Deaf Folks And Trains
Hay gang,
In the news the other day I saw a story about the Miss Deaf Teen USA getting hit by a train. Seems this girl lives in Texas and she was walking down the railroad tracks (not the smartest thing to do when you’re deaf) and the train came up and hit her from behind and killed her. CNN interviewed the conductor of the train and he said that they’d been blowing the train whistle for about a mile or so and he didn’t know why she didn’t move out of the way. Hell, throwing rocks would have worked better since she couldn’t hear. That makes about as much sense as Richard Simmons reading Hustler Magazine. Anyway, here’s some advice for ya: if you’re deaf, don’t walk down the railroad tracks…..but if ya are deaf and you find yourself walking on some railroad tracks…………turn around every once in a while.
